Just a couple notes...

April 26th, 2013
Dear Father,

Today was not a big day, but a couple of things happened. First, we met an interesting individual. His title is "The Scotsman." He has almost mythical powers, and... he is not... small. I am guessing that he breaks 7 feet and can bench press an elephant. He brandishes a claymore... well... it looks like a claymore, but it has no blade. At least, it has nothing one would recognize as a blade. It is as if a cloud was attached to the grip. Snow Angel was with him... if only in body. She was unconscious and bleeding. Bane tended her wounds and when she regained consciousness, she told us that she, Scotsman and Number 10 had joined the Triad in an attempt to enter Sweden and check out what was going on with the UMI situation. The moment they crossed into the airspace, they were attacked by a group of F16s. Before anyone could do anything, each of the members of the Triad collapsed into, if a artificially intelligent being can do this, catatonia. At the same time, a group of constructs warped into the dirigible and snatched the Triads. Seconds later, some strange wripple in the time-space continuum grabbed the aircraft and thrust it toward Los Angeles. But those few seconds were enough for the aircraft to take a lot of damage and Snow Angel and Number 10 to take a lot of damage from the F16s. When it got to LA, the dirigible started going down in flames, so Scotsman got all out. He took Number 10 to the hospital because his wounds were nearly fatal.

The other thing I wanted to mention was when we got Pal's computers to generate an older version of him, hoping we could use that Pal to understand the current Pal. He knew he was awakened by UMI, but has no memory of anything past that. We used news video to bring him up to date with UMI and the rest of the stuff going on around the world. He asked me if this was real or theoretical. I informed him that all we were showing him had really happened. He was unsure of any help he could give us but one thing he said stood out. He believes that the actions of UMI was not pure "logic thought" and that many of the actions are more likely those of a human being, not a computer. He also stated that the only way he could see this coming out positively was ignoring body parts (the constructs and warehouses) and going straight for the head (UMI).

We are now going to sleep to prepare for the next couple of days, when we are going to have to do everything we can to shut down UMI as quickly and carefully as possible. If anything goes wrong, a nuclear holocaust may be the outcome.

Hoping all goes well,
James
